Dr. Erin Dessureau, Ed.D. is a dedicated instructional coach, special education teacher, and educational advocate with a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Sacred Heart University, specializing in social, emotional, and academic learning. She is passionate about working with children with low-incidence disabilities, focusing on targeted interventions that build social, emotional, and behavioral skills. Her expertise lies in designing and implementing these interventions and collaborating with families to strengthen their ability to support their children’s success.

Erin has played a key role in fostering school-wide Social, Emotional, and Academic Learning (SEAL) initiatives across various Connecticut school districts. She specializes in creating and delivering professional development opportunities in trauma-informed instructional approaches and restorative practices. Before her current role, she worked as a school-age and preschool teacher in Urban and rural settings. This included at Area Cooperative Service Center (ACES) and Naugatuck Head Start, where she contributed to maintaining NAEYC accreditation and collaborated with special education teams to implement IEPs effectively.

As an educator, leader, and mother, she believes in the importance of educating the whole child—recognizing that social-emotional well-being is just as vital as academic achievement. Her experiences have shaped her commitment to ensuring that children feel safe, supported, and prepared to learn. She has also contributed to district-wide professional development in social and emotional learning (SEL) and remains dedicated to equipping educators with the skills to create supportive learning environments.

Above all, Erin finds daily inspiration in her two energetic and strong-minded daughters, who continuously challenge and motivate her both personally and professionally.
