Chanel is a licensed master social worker who received her graduate degree from Sacred Heart University School of Social Work, and received her Bachelor’s degree in psychology from Iona University.
Upon entering the field, Chanel provided direct care to adults with cognitive and physical disabilities. It was then she knew she wanted to pursue a degree in social work. From there, Chanel acquired clinical experience working for a DCF funded program titled Multi Systemic Therapy, Building Stronger Families. This program utilized an evidence based model to provide therapeutic services for families struggling with substance abuse and mental illness.
Chanel also has experience running intensive outpatient groups for individuals with substance abuse disorders and legal involvement. In addition to serving individuals at MJA Behavioral Health and Wellness, Chanel is a school social worker.
Chanel utilizes the systems approach - analyzing the various external and internal factors that may impact one’s mental health. She uses empathy and active listening, and meets clients where they are at to foster strong therapeutic relationships. She is also a proponent of self care for clients and herself!
In her free time, she enjoys going to the gym, trying new restaurants, spending time with friends and family, and traveling.
