Hunter French, LPC-A
Hunter is a compassionate Licensed Professional Counselor Associate who is dedicated to helping individuals navigate life’s challenges, build self-understanding, and create meaningful change. He earned his Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Sacred Heart University and his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Western Connecticut State University. Hunter began his work in the mental health field through therapeutic recreation, an experience that deepened his passion for supporting others and inspired him to pursue a career in counseling.
Hunter creates a warm, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where clients feel comfortable being themselves and exploring their experiences. He values genuine connection and takes time to understand each client as an individual. His approach is collaborative and strengths-based, meeting clients where they are while helping them recognize their own abilities and build confidence in their capacity for change.
Hunter works with individuals navigating anxiety, grief and loss, substance use and recovery, life transitions, and challenges related to self-esteem and identity. His experience as a recovery coach has given him a meaningful understanding of the recovery process and the importance of meeting individuals with compassion, respect, and encouragement. As an LGBTQIA+ affirming clinician, Hunter also values creating a supportive space for individuals exploring identity, relationships, and their sense of self.
In his clinical work, Hunter draws from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)-informed, mindfulness-informed, and strengths-based approaches. He works collaboratively with clients to explore thoughts, emotions, and behaviors while developing practical coping skills and increasing motivation for meaningful change. His goal is to help clients better understand themselves, strengthen daily functioning, and create a greater sense of fulfillment in their lives.
Hunter believes that healing and growth are supported through connection, self-awareness, and the willingness to take things one step at a time. He strives to create a therapeutic relationship where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered to move toward the life they want.
Outside of the therapy room, Hunter enjoys spending time in nature through hiking, biking, and paddle boarding. He also enjoys traveling, spending time with family and friends, and playing video games at home to unwind.
