Cody Helgesen, LPC
Cody (they/them) is a counselor who works with people of all ages, couples, and families, with extensive experience supporting LGBTQIAP+ and neurodiverse clients. They take a collaborative, humanistic, and strengths-based approach, grounded in decolonized, liberatory, and systems-focused perspectives. Cody has experience with DBT, CBT, narrative therapy, gestalt approaches, psychodrama, and other post-modern modalities, tailoring each session to meet a client’s unique needs. Their areas of focus include identity development, life transitions, trauma, complex learning profiles, and LGBTQ issues.
For Cody, therapy is a space to feel seen, heard, and empowered to explore new ways of living and relating. They believe in meeting clients where they are and co-creating a path toward change that feels authentic and achievable. Cody is currently a doctoral candidate (Ed.D.) in Counselor Education and Supervision at Southern Connecticut State University, where they also earned their M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. They completed a double major in Psychological Science and Human Development and Family Sciences at the University of Connecticut.
