Carol Pendagast, SHRM-CP, Human Resources Manager

Carol is a certified HR Generalist with over 25 years of human resources experience and holds her SHRM-CP credential. She brings a strong background in human resources, operations, and organizational support to MJA, with a passion for fostering positive workplace environments that support both employees and organizational growth.

Throughout her career, Carol has held a variety of HR and leadership roles. In 2003, she began working as an Office Manager before becoming the HR Director for an insurance brokerage in Shelton, where she also provided consulting services to the firm’s clients. She later served as the HR Manager for a local school district, further expanding her expertise in employee relations, compliance, and organizational operations.

Carol is known for being approachable, organized, and solution-focused. She values creating balance between employees and employers, always striving for outcomes that support both individuals and the organization while maintaining compliance and professionalism. She enjoys collaborating with employees and management teams to problem-solve, strengthen workplace culture, and support organizational goals.

She is passionate about being part of a team that values both community and meaningful impact. Carol especially enjoys helping leadership teams achieve their goals by managing and supporting the human resources side of operations.

Carol’s connection to the mental health field is also deeply personal. Through volunteer work with a local behavioral health organization and serving on its development board, she witnessed firsthand the impact of mental health challenges and the importance of accessible support and advocacy. She is grateful to be part of MJA and contribute to work that continues to create positive outcomes within the community.

Outside of work, Carol enjoys spending time with her husband, especially traveling to Disney World and relaxing together whenever possible. She also volunteers with several organizations in her community and hopes to spend more time gardening again, particularly growing flowers.
